We’re doing this Gofundme on behalf of our dear friend Brooke Griffin. She urgently needs our help!
Imagine graduating college at the top of your class. The world is right in front of you, full of possibilities, and then everything changes.
Imagine your whole world becoming confined to a room, in a bed, in chronic debilitating pain, day in and day out. The dizziness overwhelming, exhaustion heartbreaking; the years go by without certainty. No one should live that way.
This has been Brooke’s reality.
Brooke Griffin is 30 years old and fighting for her life and survival. She has multiple chronic illnesses that have kept her bed rested and wheelchair bound.
This is the most difficult thing for Brooke to share, but she doesn’t know what else to do.
She needs your help and has nowhere else to turn. This Gofundme is her last hope.
After 5+ years of surviving this way, living with some family members, her living environment hit a breaking point and she had to escape to protect her life and survival. It was extremely unhealthy and unstable and she could no longer survive there. But now, she’s left without financial support or help.
She’s currently staying at an extended stay hotel on almost maxed out credit (credit cards/line of credit)! She’s making her minimum payments from her line of credit! Soon she will have nowhere to live (credit maxes out).
Further, she’s been fighting the Disability process since 2014 and her Disability got denied Again! Even at the hearing level with an attorney. The process is brutal and they make it extremely difficult when you are “young” and your disabilities are complicated.
Brooke has several major chronic illnesses including: a severe neurological disorder called Thalamocortical Dysrhythmia (diagnosed by her neuropsychologist & neurology team), chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS), fibromyalgia, small fiber peripheral neuropathy, endometriosis, autoimmune dysfunction, abnormal seizures etc – all diagnosed by her treating physicians.

“Thalamocortical dysrhythmia (TCD) has been proposed as the underlying mechanism of chronic neuropathic pain and other disorders (Llinás et al.,1999, 2005; Schulman et al., 2005, 2011). TCD in chronic pain is characterized by abnormal oscillatory activity in the form of increased spectral power and a dominant peak shifted towards a lower frequency.”

THIS is what Brooke needs Right now:
She needs enough funding for a live-in caregiver and place to live (For clarification, low income housing isn’t guaranteed and outside of her time period).
Brooke needs a full-time caregiver to help with her most basic needs, such as cooking, shopping, laundry, cleaning, and driving her to her doctor’s appointments, etc.
Further, in order to survive and make progress, Brooke needs very particular living conditions: she has extreme hypersensitivities throughout her brain (proven from her QEEG Diagnostics). Very limited noise, a regulated temperature (with constant AC) and very limited light (etc.) are all necessities in Brooke’s living environment.
Brooke needs enough funding for at least 1 full year.
Her hope is to have a stable living environment (and the right living environment for her chronic disorders) to be given a chance, a chance to break the chronic pain cycle that she is in and make some physical progress. Her hope is to be able to make enough physical progress to work from home in about 1 year, and then continue getting better from that point.
(Brooke will be on state insurance to cover much of her medical costs)
More about Brooke and her life prior to chronic illness:
Anyone who knew Brooke, remembers her like this.
This was Brooke when she graduated college at the top of her class in 2012. Brooke is one of the most driven, hard working, kind and compassionate people.
She held a job since she was 12 years old (she had a babysitting job), and she worked multiple jobs through high school and college. Until she became chronically ill in 2013, and could no longer work or take care of herself.
Multiple injuries over time, including a malpractice neck manipulation injury in 2013 and a non-fault car accident a few years prior, led Brooke’s body to point of chronic illness and bedrest. (One injury after another, can trigger the body into multi-system disorders, including autoimmune and nervous system attacks.)
Brooke has been fighting for her life ever since 2013, where her body just gave up at that point.
Throughout the past 5+ years, even through enduring such horrific pain and suffering, Brooke hasn’t given up hope.
She believes that she can get her life back with the proper care/help, living environment and medical support. And this mindset of hers is a miracle, truly.
But unfortunately, no matter how hopeful Brooke has remained, hope alone will Not save her life.
Brooke needs enough financial support to make it through this, and she is running out of time.
Brooke would love to get her life back, and become once again a functioning and productive member of society. There’s so much that she could be doing to help others and make a positive impact in this world.
Without the success of this Gofundme, Brooke will not survive.
Please donate, anything helps, even $5. Please help spread the word and get her story out there.
Thank you deeply for taking the time to be here.
